ART's Recent Work in Haiti
Pre-Crisis Agreement
In December of 2005, a consortium of emergency agencies, U.S. Government, and Haitian Government
representatives proposed to assign ART with the task of becoming the "central point of contact
for U.S. relief aid to Haiti."

Before the Quake
ART was active in sending relief aid to Haiti even before the earthquake hit. On November 21, 2009,
ART sent a 40' container of Nike tennis shoes to Port-au-Prince. The container arrived on December 1,
2009 and was distributed by one of ART's partner, Harvest International, which had personnel working
on the ground.
Haiti Crisis
On January 13, 2010, one day after the deadly earthquake hit, ART mobilized and activated
its Emergency Operations Center, helping the general public understand the needs on the ground,
providing collection sites in the community, and working with its partners to connect donations
to available cargo space. Since that day, ART has not ceased to work in favor of the Haitian community.
ART does not only continue to provide logistics support to NGOs, but it is also heavily involved in
supporting organizations in the reconstruction efforts in Haiti.

of cargo activities and deliver humanitarian aid to tent cities around the city.

DAMCO, Laparkan, & SouthCom
The busy season that was generated by the earthquakes in Haiti also brought about
strong friendships. As ART became increasingly involved with the crisis in Haiti,
partners were formed and strengthened and several Memorandums of Understanding were signed.

The Work In Haiti Goes On
While many consider the events in Haiti to be history, there is still help needed
and much work to be done. ART is aware of the adverse condition that prevails in Haiti
and therefore continues to be involved through projects that address both present and future needs.
Logistics Projects
ART continues to provide excellent logistics services to help the people of Haiti.
ART is working with the United Nations Logistics Cluster and the Government of Haiti to
facilitate better services for NGOs in Haiti.
Soles 4 Haiti
Together, GMSHRM and AmericasRelief Team are collecting new Flip-Flops and Crocs in
all sizes (kids and adults) forearthquake victims in Haiti.
GMSHRM and AmericasRelief Team will provide these shoes to Harvest Intenational,
a ministry with a presence of more than 23 years in Haiti. Harvest International runs
feeding programs, medical clinics and supports orphanages and hospitals throughout the country.
After the earthquake, Harvest International staff quickly set up 3 refugee camps in Haiti,
the largest in Port-au-Price. Flip-Flops and Crocs collected will be given to those in need of
shoes amongst the displaced.
PAILS 4 Haiti
Providing Aid In Livelihoods
and Self-sustainability for the internally displaced persons of Haiti through
targeted self-employment initiatives.
With the view that self-employment initiatives are an effective tool for
reconstruction and development, PAILS for Haiti provides men and women internally
displaced in Haiti, and in need of sustainable livelihoods, with a compact medium
by which to employ their skills, become self-sufficient, and thereby less reliant on
humanitarian assistance and better able to reintegrate into society.
The design of the project is to create 9 separate “pails” specifically designed to meet
the needs of 8 different employment categories. Filled with the pertinent tools, materials,
and equipment to carry out each work function, such as construction, carpentry, seamstress, etc.,
pails will be distributed to internally displaced persons so that they can begin finding work
and making a new life for themselves and their families.
